We Have a Winner for Our Hero Initiative Contest!

We’ll be lugging this mighty 12″ x 17″ tome to the post office this week, and Scott will soon enjoy the experience of viewing seven complete issues of The Mighty Thor (#349-354 and 380—the classic all splash page story) scanned from Walter Simonson’s original pages!

It’s been an honor and a privilege to delve into Walter Simonson’s epic 1980s run of The Mighty Thor, and we hope it’s something both new and die-hard fans enjoy for years to come. Citizens of the United States in Midgard*! We have an amazing contest to announce: thanks to the worthy folks at IDW Publishing, we have a Walter Simonson’s Thor: The Return of Beta Ray Bill Artist’s Edition hardcover, and we’re giving it away as part of a contest to benefit the Hero Initiative!

From IDW: The Walter Simonson’s Thor: The Return of Beta Ray Bill Artist’s Edition features seven complete issues of The Mighty Thor (#349-354 and 380—the classic all splash page story). As with all Artist’s Editions, each page of art is scanned from the original, in this case from Simonson’s personal archives.

It measures a mighty 12″ x 17″ and retails for $125, so we decided to use this contest to benefit the Hero Initiative, which helps comic book creators in need. The Hero Initiative creates a financial safety net for comic creators who may need emergency medical aid, financial support for essentials of life, and an avenue back into paying work. Since its inception, the Hero Initiative has been fortunate enough to benefit more than 50 creators and their families with over $950,000 worth of much-needed aid! It’s a chance for all of us to give back something to the people who have given us so much enjoyment.
